The year 2022 has kicked off on a rocky note for the Project Baby, as Kodak Black found himself in trouble with the law mere hours into the new year.
Reported by Deadline, the rapper known for hits like “Tunnel Vision” was arrested on trespassing charges in Florida on Saturday, January 1. Broward County police detained him just after 1:30 AM near the 1600 block of Northwest 10th Drive in Golden Acres, the very neighborhood where Kodak grew up. The reason for his detention remains unclear, as neither the Broward County Sheriff’s Office nor his representatives have provided details about the incident.
However, the Sun Sentinel confirmed on Monday, January 3, that the sound of gunfire led local deputies to the area. While reports did not indicate Kodak discharging a weapon, he was allegedly banned from the complex, leading to his arrest. Subsequently, he was taken to Broward Main Jail, where he posted bail and was released.
This recent incident adds to Kodak’s extensive legal history. In 2019, he was sentenced to three years in federal prison after pleading guilty to weapons charges related to an arrest just before a concert in May of that year. Additionally, he admitted to providing false information on federal documents to purchase firearms from a Miami-based gun shop on multiple occasions.
