The WNBA might be expanding too Toronto

According to reports from CBC Sports, there’s a growing possibility that Toronto could soon become the home of a WNBA team. It’s said that Larry Tanenbaum’s Kilmer Sports Inc. has been granted an expansion franchise, signaling intentions for the women’s team to begin competing as early as May 2026. While neither the WNBA nor the Kilmer Group has officially confirmed these developments, speculation is mounting ahead of a potential announcement scheduled for May 23 in Toronto. Should these reports prove accurate, it would mark a significant milestone for the WNBA, representing its 14th expansion since the upcoming debut of the Golden State team in San Francisco in 2025.

In response to inquiries, the WNBA stated, “The granting of any expansion teams requires a vote of the WNBA and NBA board of governors.” Meanwhile, Courtney Glen, vice president of public affairs and communications for the Kilmer Group, remarked, “We have no update at this time,” keeping the public eagerly awaiting further details….
