It’s said that Larry Tanenbaum’s Kilmer Sports Inc. has been granted an expansion franchise, signaling intentions for the women’s team to begin competing as early as May 2026. While neither the WNBA nor the Kilmer Group has officially confirmed these developments, speculation is mounting ahead of a potential announcement scheduled for May 23 in Toronto. Should these reports prove accurate, it would mark a significant milestone for the WNBA, representing its 14th expansion since the upcoming debut of the Golden State team in San Francisco in 2025.
